Interactive top brass takes control

23 Oct 2001

Senior management of leading bespoke Web agency, Interactive Bureau, London, has bought the company from the Chime Group.

Senior management of leading bespoke Web agency, Interactive Bureau, London, has bought the company from the Chime Group.

Under the terms of the deal, Interactive Bureau will continue to benefit from the support of Chime, which retains 20 per cent of the company. Chime will remain fully supportive of Interactive Bureau, which will continue to use its existing company name and continue its long- standing relations with other Chime Group companies and their clients.

Rodney Tyler, Interactive's Chairman, said the move to change had arisen out of a feeling among the senior management that, after a number of shifts in percentage ownership over the past five years, the time had come to take control into their own hands.

"We have a fantastic client list, and a fantastic track record of top-class work for them," he said. "It goes without saying that the new Interactive Bureau will continue to uphold the high standards of strategic consultation, design and technical work, on which it has built its name."

Interactive Bureau's client list includes IBM, The Times, The Cabinet Office, The Home Office, UFI, AXA, Abbey National and Richemont. "I am thrilled that we can carry out this MBO and maintain our relationship with Chime. The Group has always been behind us and I am glad it will continue to be," Tyler added.

Lord Bell, Chime's Chairman, also welcomed the change. "The new arrangement is an exciting opportunity for the company - it has a promising future," he said. "We wish Rod Tyler and his team the very best of luck."

The Chime Group has owned Interactive Bureau Limited for four years, initially in partnership with Interactive Bureau LLC of New York - and, for the last year, as the outright owner.
