Interactive Bureau launches Gaelic Heritage site
28 Aug 2002 Interactive Bureau has recently launched the first phase of a £1m heritage site for the Highland Council Interactive Bureau has been appointed to design and build a bilingual (English / Gaelic) Web site containing materials central to Gaelic language, culture and history that are currently unavailable to the public. The "Am Baile" project led by The Highland Council will create a Gaelic Village community online, providing a major learning and research resource for everyone with an interest in the heritage of the Scottish Highlands and Islands. IAB will work with media asset management experts, iBase, on the circa £1M project, which will take nearly two years to complete. Funding has come from the New Opportunities Fund, and Interactive Bureau won a competitive tender through the Official Journal of the European Community. Interactive Bureau is also providing branding and marketing advice to establish the project identity both online and offline. The first Web presence, an interim promotional site, is now live and work continues on the full bilingual interactive site, which will encompass 100,000's of records, images, maps and text that are currently being digitised. |
