Done it
26 Apr 2004 Interactive Bureau has launched the new Web site for do-it, part of Youth Net and holders of the UK's largest database of volunteer opportunities. www.do-it.org.uk (do-it) hosts the National Volunteering Database - where tens of thousands of volunteering opportunities are input by agencies around the country. The new site is aimed at people who are thinking about volunteering. It also provides information, news and feature articles about volunteering. Do-it approached Interactive Bureau a year ago because it was interested in the WASP (Web Audit Service Programme) - a systematic and logical process to review the existing site and its evolving needs before properly planning the way forward and redesigning the Web site. Interactive Bureau's findings informed the design, structure and navigational logic for the new Web site. In addition to the design work for the public site and an administration area, Interactive Bureau also produced and delivered code-compliant HTML templates which the do-it team implemented to a new content management system. The new site has a fresh, clean look and a simplified navigational structure, making it easier for the visitor to find what they need. Great care was taken in the design and implementation of the search and search results area, this being the core of do-it's offering. Tom Green, do-it editor comments, "Interactive Bureau worked with us right through the process of re-designing our website, helping us to structure our site and determine the functionality that our users would require. I was particularly impressed with their thoroughness and attention to detail, as well as their technical knowledge. Their designs were fresh and contemporary but also highly usable, reflecting all that we had asked for in the brief. The proof of the success of the new design has come in increased page impressions per user and the smooth introduction of a user registration process." |
