Latest Porter Research report on Government Websites published

07 Jan 2005

The drive to 2005 - The 3rd annual report into Key Government websites from Porter Research published

For the past three years Porter Research has been tracking the development of the Government's websites in its drive towards full electronic service delivery by the end of 2005. This years report, sponsored by Precedent, provides an in-depth assessment of each of 32 Key Government's websites (16 major departmental sites, and 16 sites where online service delivery could be seen as essential) and benchmarks them against criteria developed from the Government's own Guidelines for UK Government websites. This 200+ page report offers those interested in e-government a chance to see insightful and detailed assessments of 32 Government sites side-by side, as a means of identifying current trends, conventions and best practice, along with:

  • Detailed analyses of standards compliance - CSS, Accessibility, HTML Coding and Browser Compatibility (performed by an expert analyst, not an automated software programme);
  • 32 different design approaches to the provision of a Government website and the means of identifying those that are employing best practice and those that are not
  • A detailed appreciation of how navigational convention is beginning to play a part in the Government’s Internet strategy, highlighting best practice.

This report is published this year by Precedent Communications with whom Interactive Bureau recently merged.
